Information: Teams will be divided into three categories, namely (a) 3rd/4th graders, (b) 5th/6th graders and (c) 7th/8th graders (i.e., the grade is the one the player is currently enrolled). Each group will be limited to the first six teams to sign up. Teams can have any combination of players in the age group for a given category. It is suggested that teams have a minimum of six players in order to ensure a full team in case of an unexpected absence, or injury.
Format: League play, which consists of five games, will be followed by a single elimination playoff with medals awarded to the players on the championship team in each category. Each team will play six to eight games depending upon their success in the playoffs.
When: Games are played on Wednesdays or Thursdays depending on weather and court availability from June 16 to August 4th. Play will be from 4 PM to 8 PM with the 3rd/4th graders playing early and the 7th/8th graders playing at the end of the time slot.
Where: Games will be held at in Arlington, VA
T-Shirts: Each team will be given a set of T-shirts to be worn during the games. So you will need to provide each player's T-shirt size as soon as you sign up.
Cost: The cost per team is $495, which covers court costs, referees for each game, a court administrator, etc. This equates to about $50 per player or about $6 to $9 per player per game, depending upon success in the playoffs.
